So She Married an Axe Murderer
This is definitely a mind blowing case. This case will determine how experienced American rideshare drivers would go about their business.
First of all, before getting into rideshare driver side of things, I don't understand why this murderer used Lyft instead of calling a limo. If you are going to kill your ex-wife and go to jail, you are not going to need any money for the most part. So why not just pay more money and get a limo? Why not arrive to your crime scene in style and comfort before you go to jail for decades? Have a meal at a fancy restaurant before ordering a limo. Get yourself a $1000 steak and pop a bottle of Dom Perignon. You might as well visit a brothel or strip club while you are at it.
As a rideshare driver, how could I possibly know if someone is going to commit a crime? If I see a passenger holding an axe in his hand, I'm definitely canceling that trip. Unfortunately, this Lyft driver wasn't paying attention enough. Or maybe he really needed to make that money because of pay cuts rolled out by these rideshare companies. Also, there was a good chance, he didn't lock his doors. Taking a passenger to a liquor store with an axe in his possession doesn't necessarily mean that the passenger was going to kill someone unless he talked about his intention to the driver. So how the f**k could you blame the driver?
No matter what the situation was, if this driver is on the hook for this case and found liable in the future, this will absolutely change the way how drivers go about their businesses.
