Show Me Your War Face
When passengers get in my car, some of them will talk about issues or things based on their opinions, emotions and personal experiences. Right or wrong, I don't really get emotionally upset even if they talk about politics and other subjects as long as it doesn't interfere with my driving on the road. Everyone is entitled to their opinions and I'm a supporter of freedom of speech all the way politically correct or not. I couldn't say that for everyone since some people are too sensitive about everything and anything. Maybe my time of amateur stand up period played a part in that. And also, I would like to believe that veterans didn't die for nothing after all.
During these conversations if someone started to talk about politics or not for whatever reasons, I usually tell passengers,
"When a bomb drops, make sure you are ready to fight for this country."
I usually say that to younger generations of American passengers. And when I said that statement to them, I found out about something very interesting. When I said that to white passengers, they responded with "Yes, I will."
However, when it came to non-white passengers, all of them became silent and didn't respond at all. So basically, there are plenty of people living in the USA who would take advantage of all the good things this country has to offer, but they will not put their lives on the line for this country when the time came to fight. This sounds like a big problem and I'm suppose to listen to somebody who wouldn't put their lives on the line for this country regarding politics and affairs of the USA???
