Rockies Thunderstorm Trap
I was on my way to Denver from Las Vegas. I wasn't paying attention to the weather before leaving Las Vegas. And because I never had any experience of driving under heavy thunderstorm condition, I didn't know how challenging it was going to be.
Once I arrived to the Rockies, it was pouring so much that I couldn't see anything. It was night time, so it was extremely difficult to see even with my high beams on. I decided to stay overnight at a motel nearby in the rockies, but I still had to drive for awhile to get there.
I made the right decision by driving 2 - 3 mph the whole time. As I was driving through the Rockies, I saw many cars including big pick up trucks stuck in a ditch on the side of the road. I only saw these cars when I was passing by them, so you could imagine how bad the visibility was that night.
Once I arrived to the motel safely, I wasn't too sure if I wanted to stay there overnight because it felt very eerie like Norman Bate Psycho type vibe. Nevertheless, I said to myself that I had enough of driving that night in thunderstorm. So I reluctantly stayed there overnight. Fortunately, I didn't get killed by a serial killer and this thunderstorm was gone the next morning, and I was able to get out of the Rockies in one piece.
