Buffalo Lake Effect Snow Trap
Not all snow weather is the same in America. Lake effect snow is on another level when it comes to navigating and clearing out the roads.
I had to drive through Buffalo one day, going eastbound, during a heavy lake effect snow weather. The freeway was closed due to snow being piled up. I had no other choice but to take local back roads. At least, it wasn't snowing when I was driving, so it wasn't too bad. It just took way too long to get to my destination.
When I was driving on the freeway under plummeting lake effect snow, I was going 20 to 30 mph. I was able to drive in that speed because I had good winter tires. AWD definitely helps out in the winter season, but I never really had a chance to drive AWD vehicles in the winter.
